Coppelia's Story

The Comic Ballet to enjoy with the Family

Dr. Coppélius, is the town doctor who has made a life-size dancing doll, Coppelia. He often sits her on his balcony, positioned to look as if she is reading a book. Coppelia is so lifelike that Franz, a village youth, becomes infatuated with it and sets aside his true heart's desire, Swanhilda, with the hopes of attracting Coppelia's attention. The shunned Swahilda, with the help of her friends, devises a plan to show Franz his folly. Swanhilda dresses as the doll, pretending to make it come to life and ultimately saving him from an untimely end at the hands of the inventor.
